A pedestrian is in critical condition after she was hit by a car in downtown Montreal and the driver has been arrested for impaired driving.

According to Montreal police, the incident happened just after 2 a.m. on Monday near the corner of Crescent Street and René-Lévesque Boulevard. 

The driver, police say, was heading west on René-Lévesque when he struck the pedestrian, who is a 46-year-old woman.
