Quebec was well represented at Sunday's 89th Academy Awards in Los Angeles.
Montreal-born Sylvain Bellemare won the Oscar for Sound Editing for his work on Arrival. During his speech, Bellemare shouted out Montreal and the Quebec natives who worked on the film.
Arrival, which was nominated for 8 Oscars, was shot in Montreal and featured a crew full of Quebec natives. Quebec-born filmmaker Denis Villeneuve was nominated for Best Director but was bested by Damien Chazelle who directed La La Land.
